The 4 Pillars to Team Management

PILLAR 1 - COMMUNICATION

"How hard can it be to communicate with people?" you might think.

In order for a team to be a success off the ice, there needs to be a flow of expectations through all active and inactive members.  Efficient management and coordination of people is required.

Managing people is about effective communication skills, resulting in the fulfillment of tasks and duties.

In the Communication Pillar we:

a) Identify your communication skills and present ways to master them.

b) Simplify your role and position you as the driver of  all relationships related to the team.

c) Teach you how to conduct powerful meetings.

d) Demonstrate how, what you do or say OR don’t do or say, affects an outcome AND how you can control it.

PILLAR 2 - BUDGETING

"I am not an accountant!" like most people in the role of Team Manager.

Our aim is to give you the tools to help you            understand what it takes to make your team balanced ‘off the ice’ and in the books in a transparent manner.

By understanding the financial picture of your team you will be able to identify the all liabilities,              responsibilities and expectations of running your team.

This pillar will have you walk away knowing:

a) The secret to creating a ‘real’ budget.

b) How to manage and communicate a budget throughout the season.

c) The one element that can destroy a budget

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

PILLAR 3 - FUND RAISING

"Sell what?  Why do we have to sell that?" Every season there is bound to be somebody asking that question.

Let’s face it, the cost of hockey is significant and if your team wants to go to tournaments or have     non-hockey activities, it will require resourcing.

For some people, this can be a topic of frustration and avoidance.  For parents, they may feel it is easier to write a cheque, than to ask a stranger or co-worker  to buy something the team is selling.  And that is the first mistake!  Most teams who     fundraise ask one question     “What products should we sell?”

In this pillar, we teach you to “think big” and give you a step-by-step process:

a) to ensure your team’s participation

b) to surpass your revenue expectations

c) to enjoy the process

d) that will have you take effortless action

PILLAR 4 - TRAVEL MANAGEMENT

"Where are we going this year?" Travel for your team means anything from a one-day roadtrip to many night stay over out of province, state or country.

Managed poorly, a team’s trip away could be an nightmare of an experience.  Whether you travel by car, bus or plane, there are expectations that families on your team will put on you, to ensure everything goes well.

In this pillar, we show you how to avoid the pitfalls of travel management, by giving you the “inside scoop” that will make your team’s trip a wonderful memory.

You’ll learn:

a) A fool-proof methodology to group travel.

b) How to integrate hockey and travel needs.

c) The untold ways to dealing with suppliers in the travel industry.
