SET UP

All players at one end in 2 lines. All the pucks are at the top of the Face-off circle. Both Goalies at the opposite end with 1 in the net.

DRILL STEPS

X1 is at the top of the circle with a puck. X2 is at the hash marks without a puck. On the Coach’s signal, X1 breaks away for a shot on net. X2 must catch him. The shot must take place from the slot.

Both players go back in line and change positions.

KEY TEACHING POINTS

Players need to work on backchecking the full length of the ice. Players with the puck need to work on driving to the net and shooting while in stride.

Goalies need to play the breakaway and cover the angles.
