SET UP
All pucks are placed in the middle of the centre circle. Players line-up in 2 lines lines along the cente ice red line. Each line begins on the outside of the cente ice face-off circle.
DRILL STEPS
Each line goes simultaneously. X1 and O1 in each line skates without a puck along the centre ice red line. While approaching the boards each player executes a big turn down ice returning along the blueline. X2 and O2 pass the puck. X1 and O1 touch pass the puck back to X2 and O2. X2 and O2 redirect the puck off the boards as X1 and O1 skate into it. X1 and O1 drives to the net for a shot.
For variation X1 and O1 stays around the net for a deflection or to play a rebound off the next shooter.
KEY TEACHING POINTS
Players need to execute the drill at top speed, have their sticks on ice at all times and drive the net after the shot for a rebound.
Goalies need to work on making sure the puck is frozen or steered to the corner.
